weekend pancakes!

the most essential part of the weekend! pancake preparation and then the holly eating of it… with the support of maple syrup&hazelnut spread and all kinds of fruits of course… I now share this with you as a sunday picture, but actually I am cheating a little… we made these last night with friends… so yessss; these are our saturday night pancakes… but they are here now to wish you a great sunday… it all counts as long as its during the weekend, no!?

a special wedding moment…

two weeks ago, we went to a sweet&sweet, very gracefully-low-key wedding… and even though with a little delay, we have been meaning to share with you some precious moments of it… “ozlem” ; my husbands cousin was the bride and “halil” the groom… they were extremely chic; “outofamovie” style… and everything else was very matching to their elegance let’s say… the little gift bags they prepared for their guests were especially a very exciting one we thought… a pack of game marbles&rooster shaped lollipops annnddddd an animated flip book came out… when you flipped it you saw the bride and the groom getting closer&kissing&embracing; all drawn by our groom! how sweet! that whole bag was a tunnel of nostalgia, since those lollipops and those marbles are not that easy at all to find anymore…… simply had to share the love with you…

ufak bir rotarla da olsa, gecenlerde gittigimiz cok samimi&zarif ve son derece nostaljik dugunu paylasmak istedik… gelin, emir’in kuzeni “ozlem! damadimiz ise; “halil” idi! sade ve cok sik detaylarla icimizin acildigi bir aksam gecirdik hep birlikte… gelinlik, sapka (sapkalara olan saplantimiz ile biz tabii ki bu durumdan cok memnunduk…) ve misafirler icin hazirlanmis cok neseli ve yine cok nostaljik bir paket… icinden cikanlari fotograflamadan olmazdi! artik bulunmasi hic de kolay olmayan cam misketler ve horoz lolipoplarla bir anda zevkten dort kose olduk diyelim… ve daha da bombasi; damadimiz “halil”in kendi cizimleriyle hazirladigi; sayfalari cevrildikce icindeki “ozlem” ve “halil” karakterlerinin birbirlerine yaklasip, opusup, ayrilip, sonra tekrar yaklasarak opusmeye devam ettikleri, bu sirada uzerlerinde “evleniyoruz” yazisinin belirdigi harikulade cizgi kitap idi! bayildik, bayildik…

fuel for something new!

went on an art-supplies trip for some serious motivation and excitement… came back with a bunch of goodies… below wanted to show off some of my new friends and celebrate them : ) they make me very happy! not just the way they look on paper but the way they smell, their boxes, the little glass jars they are in and the stickers on them… and promise that soon you’ll see some babies we’ll do together… exciting!

celebrating new haircut :)

I have been aspiring to short-short hair just like ms. audrey tatou’s for a long-long time but hesitating for a zillion reasons….

and then all of a sudden happened to find the ‘courage’ to surrender myself completely to the hands (and scissors) of my talented hair-stylist/very cool friend…

the results looks something like this ;) and i am very happy with my boy hair and thinking “hmm what else can I change now?”

fabric love…

working on something new, I had to go through the old fabric box I got… and I came across these two fabrics, which I have been obsessed with since the first time I saw them… both illustrated on… are you surprised?! well I petted them and gently put them back into safety… don’t ask when I’ll have the courage to cut them into actually garments… they are just soooo pretty…

this one (organza) makes me think of “downton abbey” (something else I have been obsessed with…)

organzenin uzerindeki bu 20′li kadinlar bana bu sira aklimdan cikartamadigim baska birseyi; “downton abbey”i hatirlatiyorlar…

and this (chiffon) one has everything that makes me smile, sketched right on it… frogs…cats…mermaids…tropical dancers…balloons…flowers… simply lovely…

sifon olan bu kumasinsa uzerinde bir benim portrem eksik… ilk goruste kendisine asik oldum (hatta ayni sebepten kestirip kendisinden birsey diktirmeye kiyamiyorum)… kediler, kurbagalar, denizkizlari, balonlar, cicekler… yuz gulduren hersey renk renk uzerinde… ve ucus ucus…

 

yeni bir deneme uzerinde calisirken kumas kutuma bir dalmam gerekti… sonuc?! uzun zamandir ilgilenmeye firsat bulamadigim ama dokunmaya kiyamadigim bazi kumaslar ortaliga sacildi… onlari oksadim, oksadim, fotografladim ve kutularina geri yatirdim… “ne zaman kiyip da onlarla birsey yapicaksin?” diye hic sormayin…

twin-time!

more baby-time for us and for you!!! yes, this summer has been a productive one “baby-wise” around us and we are loving every minute of it! and this below book was made for someone special and her new-very-quickly-enlarged family! “beril” is the mom&”ali” is the father of now one year old twins; “emre” and “deniz”; a girl and a boy! and we have known “beril” for a long time, since she is the daughter of our mom’s dear friend (back from their high-school years)… so, the connection goes way back and we hope that it will go even further with these fresh&sweet&little humans!

bebekler havada ucusuyor! ve biz bu durumdan cok mutluyuz! evet, bu yaz etrafimizda, bebeksel anlamda cok verimli gecti ve kendilerinin (kac aylik ve hangi cinsiyet oldugu hic fark etmezsizin!) ciziktirmek icin en guzel bahane olduklari konusunda hemfikiriz!

bu yukaridaki el yapimi defter de buyrunuz bize fazlasiyla ilham veren taze ikiz kardesler “deniz ve emre”, onlari gezegenimize kazandiran anneleri “beril” ve babalari “ali” icin hazirlandi… “beril” annemizin cok sevdigi, cok yakin (lise yillarindan berigele…) bir arkadasinin kizi… baglantilar eskiye gidiyor anliycaginiz… ve bizi ailecek cok heyecanlandiran bu yeni ikili ile bakalim ileride nerelere yol alacak… ne keyif ama!

“tunca dede” molasses…

our father’s name is a bit challenging to most… especially to really young ones, who are just learning to speak… so he has been given a nickname (let’s say en easier sounding name) by a sweet 5 year old and now the name is stuck! it is “tunca dede”… dede; meaning the granddad and “tunca” as simply being the easier to the tongue version of “ertunga”…

so when ertunga brought back some of his delicious home-made molasses made from our own grapes and we wanted to share some with the one&only “emir orhun”; the tag ended up saying; “tunca dede molasses for emiringo”… “emiringo” is what his parents call the incredible 8andahalf month old…

now we are going to wait and see if he’ll like it : )

babamizin ismi “ertunga” alisilmisin biraz disinda; biliyoruz… ve ozellikle konusmak ile yeni yeni hasir nesir olan ufakliklar icin zaman zaman zorluklar ortaya cikmiyor degil… yine boyle bir zamanda tatli bir ufaklik tarafindan babama verilmis isim “tunca dede” bizim cok hosumuza gitti (ne mutlu bize ki dede kismi babamizin hareket temposuna hic yakismiyor da olsa) dolayisiyla “ertunga” bagin organik uzumleriyle kendi yaptigi leziz pekmezi bize getirip, bizde bunlari emir orhun’un buyume surecine katkida bulunmak icin paylasmak isteyince; ortaya “emiringo pekmez by tunca dede” etiketi cikiverdi : )

“emiringo” da, babasiyla annesinin bu inanilmaz sekizbucukayliga verdigi isim bu arada…

simdi gozler emiringo ya cevrildi… tepkilerini merakla bekliyoruz…

I was thrilled, drooling throughout the whole process… and so happy with the results, that I forgot to photograph the final work of art! yeah! sorry about that… a “very-me-thing-to-do”… but I could tell you that it tasted pretttyy good for example! me like marriage so far@

rumisu & shop l-atitude

we have been working together with the very colorful (both literally and figuratively speaking) fun and chic site; “shop l-atitude” for a while now… they are based in my favorite city of all time; NYC… and we have been proud to be on their “istanbul” list of designer through the different locations they are including… they simply travel and pick designers from their selected locations… then sell some selected pieces of them online… and doing it stylishly… the blog of the site is also very worth checking out… especially if you are into traveling and discovering goodies while doing that… they are right now selling our “yemeni” collection! its exciting and a great pleasure to see our babies presented on a different&new&shiny platform…especially under our city’s name…
